A Letter Of Truth To My Anxiety

Dear Anxiety

I know you must look at me and see someone who has got all their s**t together – a loving family, a business I absolutely love, a beautiful baby on the way and the most special of friends.

I know this displeases you and every so often, you try and worm your way back into my life

(like my anxiety attack last week!)

When I am unsure, when I struggle, you are there in the background waiting to pounce and bring all those feelings of fear, doubt and lack of self-worth back into my life!

In the past, you made me feel responsible for the years of physical abuse I suffered, like I wasn’t worthy to connect and be friends with people, to be fearful and avoid people wearing ‘masks’ in public as they hide their own insecurities. To travel this world feeling unloved and disconnected.

But I am here to tell you, I am strong, stronger then you know and stronger then I have yet to realise! There will be times when you will try to come back, but the game is up – I know how to beat you!

Exercise – Training takes care of your body and increases your endorphins, connect with your body, feel the strength within you and reduce stress levels.

Natural Eating – A natural healthy diet has been shown time and time again to reduce anxiety symptoms, so keep to natural fresh produce and Superfoods, free from chemicals, processed sugars and nasty’s that elevate anxious feelings.

Incantations –Saying, feeling and believing the person you deserve to be helps your neural pathways create that life for you –‘I am strong, I am loved, my mind is peaceful’ choose a saying that you need to hear and say it loud and proud everyday!

Meditation – Also proven to reduce stress dramatically by helping you be in the present moment. Take just 5mins a day to focus on your breath or download the Headspace app if new to mediation for a simple guide to follow.

Talking –When you speak your fears out loud, they lessens their hold on you. Talk to someone you trust or write in a journal everyday how you are feeling – don’t let negative thoughts build up in your mind. Every time you face and overcome an obstacle – you grow stronger and your fears grow smaller.

Anxiety is real and it hits full force, sometimes when you least expect it! All my daily practices above have really helped me find the strength –

To carry on reaching my full potential

To feel happiness and gratitude every single day

To find a real beauty, acceptance and love within myself!

No one is perfect, no one has the ‘perfect life’ and I hope this real account from myself helps you to feel you are not alone – we must be brave and show love and support to each other –for when we truly love ourselves and others, we find our inner strength!
