Lose Body Fat, Tone up and get fit QUICKLY!
–Seriously!
High Intensity Interval Training – Here’s why we use it and what we are
doing to you (aside from the sweat/exhaustion/dreams about donkey kicks!)
HIIT is a form of exercise we love using at Evo in which you alternate
between very intense cardio periods and slower recovery periods.
When we work you guys at a higher intensity
(which can happen occasionally J),
you increase your metabolism, which then remains high and burns fat for 24hours.
A study at Colorado State University found
just 150 seconds of intense exercise could burn as many as 200 calories over
the course of the next 24 hours thanks to a boosted metabolism. (So imagine
what a whole Evo class can do!!)
Combine HIIT with weight training and you
boost your growth hormones, which increases muscle (tone) and the more muscle
you have, the more fat you burn. HIIT burns calories from your fat stores and
preserves that hard earned muscle– winner!
American College Sports Medicine also
reported that people who performed HIIT cardio burned almost 10% more calories
during the 24 hours following exercise than a steady-pace group (i.e. long
distance runners.) Bet you feel clever
now!
HIIT makes you smarter – A Montreal Heart
Institute (MHI) study found that, after doing two HIIT workouts a week for four
months, participants scored significantly higher on cognition tests and had
boosted their brain oxygenation.
