7 Ways to Stay Motivated Through Winter

With winter upon us, dragging yourself from the comfort of your cozy home, in dark mornings or dark evenings, to workout can sometimes feel like a challenge!

Here are my tips for staying motivated and maintaining a regular fitness regime!

At the end of a year, you will be 365 days older than you are today. You can either be 365 days older, stronger and fitter, having worked on your physical well-being on a regular basis – or you can just be 365 days older. I know which option I want!

Remind yourself of your reasons you do train! Losing weight or gaining muscle or mind-body wellness. Your goals and your passions are a priority, remind yourself that YOU matter and what you want out of life matters.
It’s called a ‘workout’ for a reason. You’re challenging yourself to get stronger, build endurance and cultivate a skill. So that means you’re going to have to get tough with yourself sometimes. To get results, you have to put the work in! (The end result being a strong, healthy body-who doesn’t want that!).

When the alarm goes off in the morning, don’t think just jump out of bed and turn the lights on. Drink a glass of lemon water (this flushes your system and wakes you up naturally), take a few deep inhale/exhales and get on with your day!! You’ll be glad you did once your workout is completed!

The more you build a habit, the more you will stick with it and the more you will look forward to training and want to go! It takes a few weeks to build a routine, so start small such as 1-2 classes a week and add more as you gain confidence and it becomes a natural way of living.

I love Evo for many reasons but the community factor is just amazing! Building friendships with like-minded people keeps you wanting to attend sessions regularly and train with people that inspire and motivate you.

Sometimes you need a day off and sometimes you just need to get to class. Remember to listen and honour what your body needs, regardless of if it is a ‘workout day’ or not and don’t beat yourself up! Be honest with yourself about your needs, take time to recoup and come back stronger!

You have the power to turn fitness into something you look forward to every day! What choice would you like to make for yourself and your own happiness today?
