I am the Head Coach and Nutritional Specialist at Evo. I have a huge determination and focus to help empower men and women in fitness and to encourage us to support and champion each other.
I have always been extremely passionate about fitness and helping others so being a trainer was the most natural step for me to take. I dedicate my time training people using the best functional skills and tools that give them the body and confidence they have been searching for.
To me, good nutrition is not something you have to do, it is what your body deserves in order for you to live life fully energised and uplifted. It is important to me to educate clients in healthy sustainable eating. Well-being is of the body, health and mind and I help develop clients in all areas. I believe that with the right direction this lifestyle is fun and the benefits – unbelievably rewarding!
I have over 10 years’ experience as a Personal Trainer and I have been with Evo for four years. These days I specialise in PT and nutritional advice. You’ll see me in class and when I’m not putting members through their paces I’m in the office or with the team.
Growing up I was always about team sports and was often the team captain at the club. I think that’s why I enjoy the group aspect of all training – either training a group or working out with friends. It’s the community at Evo that is important to me and it’s what I believe is different about what we offer members.
It’s in my nature to always want to help/support people where I can and get them to believe in themselves once more. That’s why I do what I do.
I am a family man and when I am not with my wife and kids you may find me at the gym squeezing in a quick weight training session. I love running too, preferably with mud and obstacles involved. I ran the London Marathon in 2017 which still amazes me as only a few years before that I remember always saying to myself there is no way I would ever want to do that. “Never say never.”
Possibly the best thing about being a personal trainer is getting to witness the incredible journeys and transformations you get to help you clients go through. Here at Evo I get the opportunity to see and help push hundreds of people through these amazing transformations and to see the sense of achievement on their faces.
I believe that if it doesn’t challenge you it doesn’t change you and I am here to make sure you walk out of our doors better than the person you were the day before. The best part about doing this job for me is being able to show people they are capable of achieving so much more than they think they can and I love being able to show our members new styles of training.
Like all of our members I am always trying to improve myself and have spent the last three years focusing on Olympic weightlifting and have been lucky enough to teach this to our members both in PT and in group workshops.
Unlike my colleagues, I was never interested in sport growing up and certainly had no interest in exercise! After having my first daughter, she became the centre of my world and I knew that I had to be the best Mum I could be! It took me a very long time to work out that in order to be the best Mum I could be, I also needed to be the best version of me that I could be.
I took part in an 8 week challenge losing 18lb, dropping 2 dress sizes and with it, I gained an infinite amount of self-esteem. A few months later I fell pregnant with our second daughter and I was determined I would continue with the great advances I had made with my training! I went from member to staff member because I wanted to be part of something that could make a difference to people. Being a member as well as an Evo Team member means I can empathise with what it’s like to push yourself through the classes and keep focused on your end goals.
You won’t see me much in the office but I’m always behind the scenes and when you get in touch with us you’ll always chat to me at some point. Oh and if you see me in class, come and say hi!
Growing up in Australia I should have spent my weekends and free time out in that Aussie sun playing all manner of sports. But in reality, I hated sports when I was a kid and did everything I could to avoid it.
It all changed when I was 20 and decided to get off the couch and into the gym. Or, in my case into the park, where my very own personal trainer ran our sessions. I pushed sleds, carried yokes, moved atlas stones, cried sometimes, sweated a lot and loved every minute of it. My confidence soared, I found muscles I never knew I had, and I remember saying to my personal trainer, “I wish I’d found this sooner, I’d love to be a PT.”
Fast forward to today and here I am. A qualified PT and CrossFit Level 1 Coach. I’ve found something I enjoy doing, and in it a career that I am passionate about.
I haven’t forgotten where I started. I still remember how daunting it can be walking into a gym with no idea and how tough it is to start a new routine and stick to it. But I also know how rewarding exercise can be. These days I want to share what I know. I want to help people reach their goals, whatever they may be.
My job is to motivate, support and push people to break through their barriers and help them realise what they’re truly capable of. A huge reason why The Evolution Project was attractive to me, and so many members, is the community feel around the place – you come in and sometimes you feel like never leaving.
I’ve been involved in sports from a young age and through natural progression found myself in the fitness industry. For me, the focal point of training is to constantly strive to be better, whether it’s physically, mentally or emotionally. When in class you’ll definitely hear me before you see me.
I like to see people set and reach a goal and then set new ones and step outside their comfort zones. It’s all about pushing forward with momentum and helping them to understand their body. I want people to understand why we are doing it.
The mental aspect of training is what really stands out to me. Feeling better mentally carries thousands of benefits. Every person that walks in has untapped potential and with the right coaching and mindset can achieve whatever they set their mind to.
Hard Work Pays Off, and if you put in the work, you’ll get the reward.
It’s inspiring to me seeing all the life changes being made in this gym. It hits home for me especially, being a guy who was never that interested in sports or exercise as a kid and one who spent his free time playing PC games inside over his summer holidays! All the progress I’ve made the last couple of years, especially since qualifying as a trainer, coincides with those I’ve trained and instructed in classes.
I’m qualified as a personal trainer and a sports nutrition expert, and have a lot of passion for healthy, goal-oriented eating. I enjoy coaching powerlifting and bodyweight workouts, and love to help others balance their exercise routines with everyday life. I also follow the mantra that SMART goals should gear your workouts, but doing workouts you enjoy will always be paramount to sustaining your long-term fitness and cultivating a strong mindset.
The atmosphere in the gym is the difference between The Evolution Project classes and any other gym class. I make them as entertaining, engaging and welcoming as possible. I’m always looking to push people outside their comfort zone while emphasising the proper technique to build the real strength. Enjoying your training comes when you have strong confidence in your abilities, and that enjoyment manifests into a consistent work ethic extremely fast when you are having fun in the gym.
