I absolutely LOVE chia seeds, I first heard about them 5years ago
when I visited Mexico and explored the Mayan ruins–Chia is the ‘Mayan’ word for
strength and the seeds were believed to possess magical powers due to their
ability to increase energy and stamina……what!?! Who doesn’t want to try that!!
They are, in my eyes, a FAB superfood to add to your diet,
(Especially if you are vegetarian or vegan)!
Here are some top reasons to include them in your diet to get great
results!
They are nutritional ninjas! Containing a heap of minerals including
calcium, magnesium, iron, and phosphorous-essential for bone health!
Great source of
protein! Essential for us non-meat eaters!
Rich in
Antioxidants! They fight those nasty free radicals which contribute to ageing
and diseases such as cancer.
High Fibre! They help feed friendly bacteria in the intestines, promoting
a healthy digestive system.
Absorption! They can absorb a lot of water, keeping you feeling
fuller for longer.
Omega 3 fatty acids! They are a great, healthy alternative to fish.
Chia seeds, chia seeds, good for your heart, the more you eat, the
more you…lower Type 2 Diabetes! Studies have shown that they can help reduce
blood pressure and the fibre content can reduce blood sugar spikes after meals.
There are many tasty ways to include Chia Seeds in your diet. I have
them on porridge, in smoothies, sprinkled over salad or as a yummy tasty
dessert – whilst watching Ninja Warrior-(tv trash addiction! J)
(I will be posting a fab recipe soon, so look out for this-it is super
easy, super tasty!)
So now you know how good they are and why you HAVE to include them,
get out there are start Chia-ring it up!
